For the last 2 years, Alex Ovechkin has thrilled Flyers fans with the greatest scoring seasons ever seen. Three times Alex has come close to the single game points record too, scoring 8 points in those game. Everyone wondered when Alex would take the next step and challenge Darryl Sittler's record of 10 points in a single game. Well, last night against the New Jersey Devils, Alex did just that.
But not the Alex everyone was waiting for.
Alex Galchenyuk has started off this season red hot and has seen his minutes grow with each game, but nobody could be prepared for his 2 goal-8 assist game against the Devils. "All the credit goes to the guys" said a mostly speechless Galchenyuk after the game. "I can't describe what happened, just one of those days...it's amazing"
Perhaps most shocking was Ovi only scoring 2 goals in the 13-4 win (with both being obviously on Galchenyuk assists). The biggest winner from the assist parade was Drayson Bowman who broke out of a mini slump scoring 4, and PK Subban chipping in with 2 of his own. The biggest question is now how will Ovechkin respond to not being the record holder on this team?
